Description

Color:Polished Silver The Moccamaster KBG coffeemaker features a glass carafe and an automatic drip-stop brew-basket that stops the flow of coffee if the carafe is pulled away. The KBG brews a full 40oz pot of Coffee in six minutes. Coffee is then held on our unique hot-plate; which is engineered with a separate, independent element that rolls heat into the coffee to ensure an even taste from the first cup to the last drop. The hot-plate has two settings, giving you the choice to hold your coffee between 175° and 185° F, while never burning your Coffee. After 100 minutes, The hot-plate will automatically turn-off. All Moccamaster coffeemakers are handmade in the Netherlands and backed by an industry leading 5-year.

Notes from the Community

If you love great coffee, buy this machine. When I say great coffee, I mean the kind of coffee you would expect and get from your favorite local coffee roaster/café or quality coffee shop (think Starbucks or Peets, NOT the tasteless brown water that Dunkin Donuts sells).Ive wanted a Moccamaster since I first saw one and tasted the coffee it makes while a college student, way back in the 1980s. Owning one at the time was impractical and unattainable, so I moved on. Over the intervening thirty years, Ive always lingered enviously over the store displays whenever I encountered them, but never made the plungethe machine was just too expensive. That being said, Ive owned the best coffee makers from Braun, Krups, Kitchen Aid, and Breville, all of which made decent coffee. In fact, the Breville made great coffee, although its cost was dangerously close the the Technivorms. That machine was the no-longer-available Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single-Cup Coffee Brewerthe only Keurig system coffee maker the brewed hot enough for decent extraction. That machine lasted eight years, but finally shorted out due to perforation of the boiler element because of its aluminum construction.WHAT DID I CONSIDER?I researched and considered buying two machines other than the Moccamaster: one from Breville, the Breville BDC650BSS Grind Control, Silver, and one from Behmor: Behmor Connected Temperature Control Coffee Maker. Both of these machines should make very good coffee, but I ultimately decided on the Moccamaster for several reasons, which Ill explain below. If the Moccamaster weret so much better, or not available, I think either of these machines would be a good option, but note that theyre still expensive, so the choice was easy.WHY DID I CHOOSE THE TECHNIVORM MOCCAMASTER?1. Copper Heating ElementAlmost all consumer coffee makers have aluminum heating elements. They will eventually corrode and short-circuit the machine. When this happens, cut the cord off and THROW IT AWAY. This assumes its been plugged into a GFCI outlet. If it isnt, it will keep working despite the short. Youre not only out of compliance with the local electrical code no matter where you live in the United States, but youre playing Russian roulette with your life. A copper element will heat virtually instantaneously, and it will last many years. Copper heating coils are customarily found in better espresso machines, and this quality feature sets the Moccamaster apart from the rest of the field.2. Replaceable PartsThe Moccamaster has a modular construction which makes most parts user-replaceable. Other parts, such as the copper boiler, switches, etc., will be replaced quickly and at minimal cost by Technivorms US service facility after the warranty expires. The warranty is five years.3. Proper Brewing Temperature and Extraction TimeGood coffee require HOT, but not boiling, water. Most coffee makers just dont heat the water enough. The copper element in a Moccamaster heats the water to 196205º, and has optimal flow-through for the best extraction. This results in coffee that is rich but not overpowering, with a thick body and smooth mouthfeel, and no sediment or separation.4. Optimal Hotplate Temperature and DurationCoffee should be kept at ±180º. A Moccamaster hot plate can be set to warm at either 175º, or 185º for those who prefer it hot. Every other machines coffee will taste lukewarm to you after you use this machine. The hotplate switches off after 100 minutes, preventing burned coffee. If you need to warm it up again, just turn the machine on again. When the water tank is empty, a float switch prevents the water heater from engaging, so only the hot plate will come on.5. Made the Way Things Used to Be MadeTechnivorm has made these machines since 1964 with the same solid build quality, by hand, while incorporating improvements in materials and technology over time. The body is heavy-gauge extruded aluminum, and plastic parts are quality cast and attractive, with perfect fit and finish. I agree, in this price range one would expect some of the plastic to be heavier, or possibly the water tank be made of glass, but the plastic is toxin-free and unbreakable. Other parts are glass, rubber, and stainless steel. The heavy, removable, stainless steel showerhead has nine holes, which evenly bathe the grounds with hot water at the optimal rate of flow. Every part of the machine is recyclable, and the packaging is recycled corrugated cardboard, making it a champion of sustainability. The old-fashioned, heavy-duty rocker switches are the only adjustable controls. Im as avid a technology geek as you can find, but perfect coffee means making it when you want it, which means timers, clocks and other electronic wizardry just shouldnt be part of the equation. Water will lose its oxygen and start going stale within two hours, and coffee will lose vital aroma within thirty minutes of being ground, so setting things up the night before to awaken to the smell of coffee guarantees you a mediocre cup.In any case, this machine is FASTfaster than youve ever experienced. An entire 10-cup (1.25 liter) pot takes just under five minutes. Enough for a large thermal travel mug (4 cups on the water indicator), takes two minutes. The copper heating element is so oversized and efficient that the water will begin boiling and percolating up the glass tube in about five-ten secondsyou have to see it to believe it. A slick an old-fashioned feature is how the power switch physically rocks back to the off position after 100 minutes rather than the power just being cut off. It also features an orange neon-looking, but I assume LED, power indicator.BOTTOM LINEIts expensive. But consider that its made by hand, over-engineered, parts are replaceable, and its manufactured in the Netherlands by people earning a fair wage. Other machines are manufactured in Chinese, Mexican, or southeast-Asian factories alongside many other brands and models at a low cost with inferior materials. They are then marked up many times because the market will bear the inflated price. This coffee maker not only has superior build quality, but like other American- and European-made goods, the price is dictated by the cost of manufacturing, not excessive markup. I chose the copper finish to treat myself after waiting thirty years, but you can save up to $40 by choosing silver aluminum, and there are many painted and anodized colors available at different price points. The machine has two separate heaters with discreet circuitry, so when the water is done boiling, the coil switches off and the hotplate switches on much more durable and efficient.HOW DO I MAKE PERFECT COFFEE?1. Buy Whole BeansBuy the best you can, from a reputable supplier. Resist the urge to buy your coffee pre-ground unless youre making a lot of it for a large event or party in a coffee urn. Coffee flavor and aroma degrades quickly after grinding.2. Use A Burr GrinderA conical burr grinder wont overheat the beans and burn the coffee like a cheap blade grinder will. It will also make the grind uniform, allowing the best and most consistent extraction. My grinder of choice is from Kitchen Aid: KitchenAid KCG0702OB Burr Coffee Grinder, Onyx Black. Mine has been going strong even after over ten years of daily use. Use the 6 setting for a Moccamaster or any other drip coffeemaker.3. Weight, Not VolumeJust as in baking its preferable to weigh dry ingredients rather than use measuring cups for the most exact portions, coffee should be weighed. Your chosen grind fineness, humidity, barometric pressure, and other factors make using a spoon very inconsistent. Use 14 grams of whole beans for each 8 ounces of water. This means 7 grams for each cup marking on a Moccamaster, since they use the European standard of 4-oz. cups of coffee. Grind the beans right before you put them in the filter basket.4. Speaking of FiltersI was always a firm believer in gold-plated stainless steel mesh filters. They last forever and theres no waste or mess. Technivorm specifically reccomends against them, and so I was skeptical. I bought a good quality #4 mesh filter separately and made two pots, one with the reusable filter and one with a paper filter supplied with the machine. There was no comparison. A paper filter is designed to give the best filtration and optimal steeping time. Buy #4 filters made from bleached white paper. The brown ones give the coffee a taste and aroma overtone faintly reminiscent of cardboard, and the bamboo filters may be sustainable, but they make coffee almost as bad as the metal mesh filters. No need to use Technivorm filters; a box of 100 white Melitta #4 filters will cost you about $3.50 at any grocery store.5. Measure the WaterDont use the carafe to pour water into the tank. Use a clean glass or cup or other container. If your tap water is sweet and soft and doesnt smell like chlorine, go ahead and use it. If you have hard water or smell anything when you turn the faucet on, use filtered or bottles water. DO NOT use distilled water. Minerals are necessary for good coffee for taste, aroma, and pH. I live in an area blessed with some of the purest reservoir water in the world, but I use water from my refrigerator dispenser for purity and consistency. Plus, cold water works better than room temperature or warm water. The filtration means better-tasting coffee and longer burner life, with more cycles between descaling. This machine makes coffee as good as any I have ever had in a fine restaurant or craft coffeehouse. Buy it and enjoy it. Technivorm says a Moccamaster should be the last coffee maker youll ever buy, and I believe them.Rereading this review, Ive realized that Ive practically written a marketing piece. Id like to make clear that I have no proverbial axe to grind. Im not affiliated in any way with the manufacturer or any vendor, and I havent received any sort of compensation from anyone. I waited decades to buy this machine, and I wish I had done it sooner. I wanted to not like this because I am not a coffee snob. I just got tired of spending $40+ every 18 months to buy a new coffee maker so I decided to try and find something with replaceable parts. I found this, read millions of reviews, bought it grudgingly, and then watched in fascination as the water went through the middle tube thing and brewed my first pot of Moccamaster coffe. Then this crazy thing happened…my coffee was good. REALLY good. Is it the placebo effect of spending this much money on a coffee maker? I dont know and I dont care. Just get in my belly. Why on Gods green earth would you spend this much money on a coffee maker?Thats the question I was asking myself right before hitting the Buy Now With 1-Click (r) button. And two days later, I understood why.The simplicity of this coffee maker makes it a joy to use, the beautiful design makes it a unique piece in your kitchen. However, the taste of the coffee far exceeds what I was getting from our previous coffee maker. The temperature is consistent, and its a HOT cop of coffee. If you are like us and spend good money on quality beans (we use Charleston Coffee Roasters Dark Roast), you owe it to yourself to use a machine that will get the most out of your money. Sure its expensive, but you are spending more than that already on beans I bet!I give it 5 stars only because I cannot give it 10… [LONG-TERM UPDATE to original review below — as of June 2017 — 5 1/2 years after purchase, our Moccamaster is still going strong; only maintenance has been cleaning with soap and water and Cleancaf rinse every few months Urnex Cleancaf Coffee Maker & Espresso Machine Cleaner Powder, 3 Packets ]Our old Braun (made in Germany), auto drip coffeemaker finally died after 30! years… and so began the search for a replacement. I usually prefer to take the time to make coffee with press pot, vac pot, or Eva Solo - all of which can produce great tasting coffee from fresh-ground good quality beans. My wife, however, has an early commute and prefers the convenience of auto drip. Amazingly, the Technivorm is an auto drip machine which makes great tasting coffee every bit comparable to the manual methods. We considered the Bonavita, which, like the Technivorm, appears to be the only other machine tested/certified for (really does make all the difference) brewing temperature consistency. Initially, the Bonavita seemed to have a bit smaller/better shaped countertop footprint and was around $100 less expensive, while the Technivorm appeared to be a bit clunky to use with all the must-move-or-remove separate parts (water reservoir cover, filter basket, basket top, drip arm). For us, what clinched the deal clearly in favor of Technivorm is their use of copper (just like the pipes in most homes) heating element vs. aluminum in the case of the Bonavita. Having ditched our aluminum cookware years ago, in favor of healthier stainless steel, we did not want to make coffee multiple times a day using a machine with an aluminum thermoblock… particularly given that some water remains in the system between uses in the case of both machines.Other choices - which Technivorm?1) Glass pot vs. Thermal Carafe -We prefer the how much coffee is left visual convenience and ease of cleaning with the glass pot Technivorm. The purists will warn about continued-cooking effects of the hot plate/glass pot system vs. thermal carafe… however as other reviewers note, the 10 cup pot is a smallish European-sized, so we rarely have much coffee sitting on the hot plate for long. Plus, it is nice for the last cup to be hot rather than merely warm (note that to minimize additional cooking of the coffee, you can adjust the hot plate wattage high/low with the rightmost switch… we leave ours on low and it keeps the pot-minus-first-cup-or-two plenty hot.)Also note that the thermal carafe system has an interlock switch, requiring that the carafe must be tight up against the coffee machine for it to brew… this seemed a bit over the top, running the risk of early morning surprise, as in …OMG no coffee! who bumped the carafe?2) Newer Automatic No-Drip vs. Prior Drip Switch Filter Basket -If youve dug into the online research you may have noticed that some of the Technivorm pictures show a 3 position lever on a filter basket with round base, while others show a filter basket with a rectangular base and no lever. As far as we could tell you can still buy both versions. The theory behind the lever (which has positions to turn the drip off, halfway, or full flow) is that you leave the drip off for a minute to fill the filter basket with water and thereby completely saturate the coffee grounds, then flip it to halfway if brewing a small amount of coffee, or to full if brewing a whole pot. You can also flip the lever to off when you want a cup of coffee before brewing has finished. The other, newer filter basket is like a conventional coffee machine… with an automatic mechanism to stop the drip flow when you pull the coffee pot out.Not wanting to mess around with turning the drip off and on (…OMG no coffee! who forgot to flip the lever? or worse… why is there coffee overflowing everywhere!), we chose to get the newer rectangular filter basket version and give up the theoretical advantages of saturating the grounds or optimizing half-a-pot flow rates. Were really glad we went this way… in practice the machine operates so fast that very little coffee drips through to the pot before the grounds are saturated, and given the small European pot size, it will be a rare event for us to make a half pot (most American households will probably make a couple of pots each morning.)So far, after brewing many dozens of pots, we have only a few minor cautionary observations -(A) seems advisable to load the filter and coffee into the filter basket by first removing the basket from its cantilevered plastic perch over the pot… to avoid pressing down on the perch and perhaps breaking it. This is no big deal, but does require paying a bit of attention when you put the filter basket back on, as it needs to match up with a couple of hooks at the inner end.(B) the Technivorm is not the most guest-friendly coffeemaker… you will need to briefly show the Mr. Coffee folks how to use it and familiarize them with some of the nuances (like the filter basket hooks)… but this can actually be entertaining, as watching the swirling bubbles/water (that almost immediately rise up through the clear water tube) is surprisingly mesmerizing to the pre-coffeed mind in the morning.(C) being handbuilt in Europe (if you search the 3rd party reviews you can actually find an online video of the factory showing careful Dutch people hard at work making your machine) the Technivorm has one mostly-charming quirk… typical countertop appliances these days have a short power cord and/or under-machine storage spool for excess length… not so with Techivorm. This baby comes with a longish power cord, seemingly thick enough to handle, say… your stove or a plug-in hybrid car. So, you will need a bit of room behind the machine for the cord. But the good news here, is that the sideways layout of the machine gives it an equally unusual small front to back depth, so there is room for the mother of all power cords.Overall, the Technivorm indeed seems to be the best auto drip coffee maker that you can buy in the USA - if you ever taste the difference between a typical coffeemaker and one that consistently holds the critical just-beneath-boiling temperature, you may not be able to go back. Assuming good beans, controlled/sufficiently high temperature is the key to great coffee… its not rocket science but only Technivorm and Bonavita do it, as far as I can tell from reading a lot of third party reviews.Parting thought… first thing in the morning, its actually wonderfully refreshing to use a machine that is elegantly mechanical in that old-school form-follows-function way, and that has just two simple switches, on/off and high/low …with… wait for it… simple red lights! to show if theyre on …and NOTHING ELSE.All in all, this is a stark contrast to interacting with a microprocessor-controlled, back-lit LCD displayed, high knobs-to-dollar ratio, fourteen function, how-DO-I-set-the-time, yet-another computing device thingy - all before your first cup of coffee ;-)(but… what if Siri could make great coffee…?)

This screen protector is fantastic and I wish I could rate it 6 stars. In a horrific chain of events I tragically dropped my phone from approximately 4 3/4 feet directly onto cold hard pavement littered with gravel. (Dropped it out my car window) I hesitantly exited my vehicle and then proceeded to step directly on top of the phone which was screen side down. To my dismay I observed multiple cracks on the screen of my almost new iPhone 8. I then did the drive of shame back home where I could more closely observe the catastrophic damage to my phone screen. I slowly pulled it out of my pocket as a single tear ran down my face. Suddenly I was overcome with an epiphany. I had purchased and installed this glass protector on my phone. Is it possible that my screen was still intact? Is it possible that this 8 dollar product saved me from replacing my entire screen? I slowly peeled back the screen and was filled with joy. I havent felt joy like this since I opened up my Nintendo 64 one 1990s Christmas morning. My screen was unscathed. I snapped a picture of the decimated screen cover, and gave it a proper viking burial. Thank you for your service tempered glass screen protector. Im that guy who researches everything to the nth degree. Five years ago I bought my entire family our first smart phones (iPhone 5). I took the new iPhones to the closest Big Box store to purchase screen protectors. There wasnt a great deal of choice then so I went with what the employees recommended which happened to be the most expensive screen protector—and at that time most highly rated—on the market. The employee at the said Big Box store offered free installation on all the phones. At the price they were charging I thought Ill have somebody with lots of experience doing this make sure it is done right. My daughters phones were done okay, my wifes phone was so-so, but my phone was done poorly. Lots of dust under the screen protector and what appeared to be two small creases. I asked the employee to do it over but he said I would have to pay for a new screen protector. None of this brands expensive screen protectors fared well over the years, even though we take pretty meticulous care of our things. Lots of scratches and imperfections led me to conclude that brand was not all it was cracked up to be. In fact critical testing proved the surface to be quite soft and prone to scratching. Fast forward five years later and a long overdue upgrade to two iPhone 8s. I made the decision that I would be the one doing the screen protector installation on our two new iPhones. Im leery of popular items that dont cost much (cheap cost = popularity not quality), but after doing all my homework TechMatte was the clear winner hands down. I purchased three packs (a total of 6 screen protectors) to do our two iPhones figuring I would make at least two attempts per phone. I did my wifes phone first and ended up using the second screen protector due to a small wet spot that just wouldnt squeegee out. Another 20 minute prep session and the second attempt was spot on. Three weeks later I got my iPhone and nailed a perfect install of the protector on the first attempt. Absolute flawless finish. To me the key is to take as much time as needed to do your cleaning and prep work on the phone screen. I took a small flashlight and located every dust or speck left on the screen and kept going over it multiple times with as many of the dust removal strips it took to have a flawless surface for the application. Take at least 20 minutes—or more—to prep the screen and youll end up with a great finish. Just dont rush the process. As to longevity, Im already convinced that the TechMatte protector is much tougher than the expensive brand I used on our prior iPhones. But even if these dont last for several years, I already have three spare screen protectors on standby I can apply if needed. As far as Im concerned, TechMatte is the Best of the Best. Believe the hype, theyre that good! Do the installation yourself and do it right. No more Big Box stores for me. This does not adhere to the edges of an iPhone 8 well at all. I would not buy this if you have an 8. Ive had no issues with the same brand for the X, but there must be a contour to the screen on the edge of the 8 that it just doesnt work well with Afraid Im not very good at remembering to write reviews, even for products that impress me, but I just had to do so for this one, so here we go…Buy these. If you value your phones screen Now! Because I am so clumsy and accident prone and somewhat famous for how many times I can drop my phone, having a good case has always been a top priority. My husband & I typically never buy the extra insurance or warranties for products but have actually started doing so with my iphones… yeah, Im that bad 😏 Never put a whole lot of thought into the actual screen protector, however when buying my last case on here, I went ahead and bought these as well.Fast forward about a year & dagummit, I did it: had managed to drop my phone just right and just enough times that, even with a good case, I had cracked the screen a tiny bit in a couple places along the edges & corners A spider vein was starting to work its way across the middle and I was scratching my finger a bit on those messed up spots. So, made an appointment at my local Apple Store, prepared to pay that small fee to get a new screen put on my phone. But then the nice, helpful Apple guy gets it, takes a look at it briefly from a couple of angles, looks at me and says have you taken the screen protector off? I had a screen protector?? Oh yeah, totally forgot I had even bought those and put that on here! Do you mind if I take this off to take a look? Of course not, my good sir Just fix my baby and put her back in my hot little hands! He then proceeds to carefully peel off this wonderful piece of engineered awesomeness and hands it to me, saying this saved your phones screen - the screen was absolutely, 100% intact?! This innocuous-looking piece of thin glass had absorbed all of my damage and that was it - left there without my cracked up protector but a giddy girl… husband laughed at me, because I was so excited that my clumsy, gracelessness actually had a happy ending to its tale for a change 😁 I immediately came home and placed an order for two more, since 2 come in a package; one for mine & teen daughters phones & another package to keep on hand, JUST IN CASE! So, thank you, you awesome people and keep it up! This seven or so dollar investment is probably one of the best ones I have ever made Clumsy and phone-dropping people; heed my cry and place your orders pronto!

This camera is the best money ever spent. Just caught someone breaking in to my apartment to steal pain medication from my son a week after brain surgery. The guy the apartment sent to change the locks was the guy in the video!! This camera has worked well for me, a non-tech person. I have tried to answer as many of the common questions asked about this camera as I could.I am not sure why, but there is a lot of misinformation out there, especially in some of the top reviews. Some of the problems have been fixed in software updates, but much of the information is just not correct. Hopefully these reviews will be updated at some point.(Edit 8/11/2018 I have noticed many of those top reviews with bad info and most of those camera caught the thief video reviews are gone for some reason). You can download and watch videos on a PC with the free plan (in the last 24 hours) You can watch live stream on a computer via cloudcam.amazon.com You can turn off audio playback (from the app) You can invert the video (from the app) You can turn of the infrared night light (from the app)UNPACKAGINGPackage came on time and was without any damage, but there was no padding inside the shipping box. Included in the main box were the camera, USB cable, AC adaptor for 110 voltage, small setup manual, wall mount and two drywall screws (see photos).OVERALL FIRST IMPRESSIONSCamera seems well made and a little smaller than I thought it would be. All items were included and in good condition. The image on the live view in daylight was good (see photo), images appeared sharp and easy to identify. Sound was crystal clear. I turned on the TV, went into another room and was easily able to watch the TV and hear the sound very clearly when it came through. There were some breakups of the sound at times though, making me miss some of the audio detail. But night vision is dark and grainy, it is not easy to make out itemsSETUPSet up took me less than 11 minutes which includes downloading the app and logging into all accounts. I am not a big tech guy but setup was quite easy. Basically you just plug the camera in to the AC adapter, download the Amazon Cloud Cam app to your phone, wait for the blue blinking light on the camera to change to a pulsating blue and green light, and you will hear a chime sound. This means the camera is ready for setup. Then you just hit the setup button on your phone and in about 3 minutes it is working. I am using a Moto E as my video source and for the app.HOW IT WORKSYou can watch live view or see the video clips the camera took upon it detecting movement. It quickly took several short videos detecting movement when I walked around. I also received a sound and text notice on my phone of Motion detected every time it detected motion and took a video, and when I touch the notice it will play the video for me. I do seem to get a lot of We were unable to play this video error codes when I first try to play the video, but usually it will play when I hit the blue replay button. I have not upgraded my plan so I will only get the last 24 hours of video. It does not take pictures but you can easily do this by just taking a screenshot (see photo) on your android phone, normally this is just hitting the power button and volume button at the same time. Or you could do a Print Screen on your computer when viewing recorded video clips. You can view the recorded videos AND download video clips from a PC with the free plan, just go to www.amazon.com/clouddrive, sign in, then when watching your videos in the upper right hand corner there is a download icon. You can also view live feed or videos up to 24 hours any time with the basic included plan on your cell phone or computer.GLASS WINDOWSIt will take video through a window as it can detect movement. Image for me was still pretty good. But at night the infrared light will glare badly on the windows blurring your view almost completely. You can turn off the infrared light via the app though, and using just a porch light I captured cool videos of many animals at night.WHAT I DO NOT LIKEIn my opinion this camera has poor night vision. It does have the ability to see live view from a computer even though many reviews say you cannot do this. Just go to cloudcam.amazon.com to set it up.I set this camera up to watch my car in my driveway as a test, but at night even at low sensitivity it goes constantly, recoding everything. OK, no problem yet. But when I go to Amazon Drive, I see a lot of recorded videos that I just want to delete. But as of now, I have to look at each one individually, and then hit the delete button each time. I would think this could be MUCH easier. I might take a star off for this in the future (maybe it is just something I do not see or have figured out?).Edit: Thx to Regolith who gave me an option to quickly delete the videos, see his/her two comments under the comments section, they worked well for me. It can work for the phone or the computer.ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ASKED You can download videos to a PC on the free plan in the last 24 hours You can view live stream on a PC via cloudcam.amazon.com It has no local SD storage Sound plays very clearly and loud You can turn off audio playback It only records if it detects movement This is an indoor camera only, it is not waterproof You can turn the camera on/off through the app When the camera detects motion, you receive a text and sound alert via a cell phone You can turn off the IR (infrared night light) It does not pan or zoom Night vision is dark and grainy, not easy to make out photos While camera viewing is wireless, it requires a wire to power it (it is not battery operated) You can have the camera image rotate 180 degrees for ceiling mounting Does not require a base station (some do, I have no idea what a base station is for)THOUGHTSI have not owned another camera to influence me one way or another.I have continuously updated this review as I have used and tested this camera out. Sorry to write so much, I know most people do not like detailed long reviews but I always write what I would want to know about an item before I make a purchase. Any misinformation please let me know or if you have any questions please ask via comments, I will answer what I can. We ordered this camera on thanksgiving just because it was on sale. It was delivered by Saturday and I installed it immediately. Sunday my family and I went out of town and I was excited to be able to watch our dog through the cloud cam app. On the way home Sunday evening, I received a notification that motion was detected. I open the app and see that my house had caught on fire and my dog was stuck inside. After calling 911 and a neighbor to break in to rescue our dog, I reopened the app to see the entire room filled with smoke and the fire blazing in the kitchen. Luckily this app saves videos for a week so I was able to share them with our fire department. I was also able to download the videos as well as zoom in to see what caused the fire (my dog hit the stove burner on). The camera is now melted and ruined, but I am forever grateful. I will order another one when we can live in our home again. Thank you Amazon for the sale and thank the universe nothing worse happened! Not three weeks after installing the Amazon Cloud Cam I received an alert of motion at our hunting cabin. There should not have been anyone there and I was surprised to find video of someone breaking-in and collecting our tools and hunting gear to take with him. I was not able to catch him in real time, but I was able to alert the Sherriff Dpt. within minutes of him leaving. With the 25 separate videos of the suspect the cloud Cam provided, the Sherriff Dpt. were able to quickly find him, our property, and put him in jail. Well worth the price of admission to put a bad guy in jail. I got the Amazon Cloud cam to see what my cats do during the day. Today, I had left the house and was out running errands. I got an alert that motion was detected in my Kitchen. I looked at the live view and saw a person had broken into my home. I used the microphone feature and yelled at him to get out of my house and told him the police were on the way. He immediately left. Thank you Amazon - without my cloud cams, this could have had a very different ending. Its a nice camera. Good quality and compact size. Capturing the sound is good, although not the best quality vs other cameras. The biggest issue and I think most important, is the camera will NOT send you a motion alert until AFTER the event has concluded. So if someone is in your home and the motion is constant, the camera will continue to capture the event, but NOT report it to you until motion has stopped. So that may when the person is leaving your place…

I rated each and every capsule down to the last one! Before you read my ratings its important to note that different people enjoy different flavors of coffee. This is just according to my personal tastes! I like to drink coffee black to get the full flavor of the coffee alone so obviously if you mix it with cream, milk, sugar or other added flavorings it will taste a lot different. Now… MY RATINGS (listed from best to worst):1. Laughing man - Dukales Blend medium roast: Probably the best medium roast coffee Ive ever had.2. Green Mountain - Colombian Select Medium Roast: Another really good medium roast here.3. Caribou - Caribou Blend: Delicious. These guys apparently just make good coffee :)4. Caribou - Daybreak: Delicious.5. Rev - No Surrender: Very Good!6. Tullys - Italian Roast: Pretty good.7. Gloria Jeans Hazlenut: Dont normally like flavored coffees but this one is pretty good! Watch out though, I got a little bit of heartburn/indigestion from drinking this one.8. Newmans Own - Special Blend Medium Roast: Good but not as good as the above medium roasts.9. Newmans French Roast: Pretty good.10. Donut Shop - Regular: This ones actually better than I expected. Not bad at all.11. Donut Shop - Dark: Also not bad! Way to go Donut shop.12. Cinnabon - Classic Cinnamon Roll: Again, dont normally do a lot of flavored coffees but this one was decent!13. Green Mountain Medium Blend: Tastes ok.14. Tullys Hawaiian blend: Ok.15. Gloria Jeans - Butter Toffee: I guess its not horrible, its just not my kind of coffee.16. Green Mountain Coffee, Dark Magic: Getting into the just ok but not so great ones.17. Laughing man - Colombia Huila Dark Roast: Meh. Didnt really care for this one.18. Laughing Man Dark Roast: Ok but not the greatest.19. Krispy Kreme Smooth: Now getting into the just bad ones. I always used to think their in-store coffee was just old but nope, it apparently comes pre-olded It just taste like old coffee.20. Kahlua Original - Light Roast: I personally think this one is disgusting. It might even be the worst coffee Ive ever had. I couldnt drink more than a couple of sips before throwing the rest out (I tried both capsules just in case). It just tastes like maple syrup like drinking straight up liquid syrup out of a bottle. If you absolutely LOVE pancake syrup then you might be able to stomach this one. Otherwise avoid. Thanks to this Variety pack, I now know which ones Im ordering next! Im ordering the top 5 in this list so that Ill still have some variety from day to day but Itll just be the good ones :)LOVED the adventure of this variety pack though! Its well worth the money (maybe except for that nasty Kahlua one) and itll give you a ton of variety from day to day/morning to morning! Before this I was just trying K-cups 1-by-1 but it was taking forever and if I didnt like one… welp… I was stuck with it till I ran out. So yeah, this variety back was amazing :)Also worth noting that mine came with exactly 2 of each. I see other reviews on here saying that some were missing or mixed up. Maybe theyve gotten better at quality control? Either that or I was just lucky.Anyway, hope this is helpful to someone else out there! As an assorted box, the pods come tossed together (no dividers) inside the shipping box, which is expected, and (if you like surprises) it has the added benefit of being a mystery bag so you can try a new flavor each time you dive in. The flavors are great, but youll find some to be more your style than others as you get through them all. That being said, theyre all good quality products so if you enjoy k-cups or are looking for a new flavor then this is a fairly cheap/convenient way to try a bunch of new pods without committing to a full box. (Shoutout to Revv and Newman for giving me two new favorites!).The only reason I cant give this a full 5 stars is that my shipment was missing 4 pods (2 Green Mountain Dark Magic, and 2 Newmans French Roast). Its a minor issue, but youd be letdown too if someone said theyre taking away nearly a full business weeks worth of coffee from you! It also makes it so that each pod is really worth $0.70 instead of the advertised amount, which again isnt much, but it does add up to four days of missing coffee :( I am a barista and I can understand how some people like fresh ground coffee. It probably tastes a lot better, but frankly, I dont give a damn. The reason I bought a Keurig is that I love coffee and one of my biggest inconveniences in the morning is making my coffee. I know that sounds ridiculous but Im already tired and I just want my day to be simple.I love the variety and that I dont have to finish an entire pound of coffee before trying something new. This is also really good for new Keurig customers to find the kind of coffee you like best. Its also nice if you live with others and you can both try something new each day. Ive enjoyed just about everything Ive had a chance to try in the last few weeks. This set really helped me shape what kinds of coffee I like with my Keurig and what is less my personal taste, which was exactly what I was hoping for. This k-cup sampler pack was part of a Black Friday bundle with the purchase of a Keurig coffee maker at an incredible price. Since I bought the Keurig for the work place, I went through the variety of k-cups (2 pods of each variety) kept what were my favorites and took the rest to work. It actually was one the the best varieties in an assortment pack I have seen. I like the dark roasts and this assortment had a nice blend of dark, medium and light/breakfast blends. Was very impressed. Got in a deal package where I purchased both this and a Keurig. Awesome Variety. For whatever reason, my favorite flavor Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll only had one pod in the pack and I got three of another variety instead. Wouldnt mind except the label specifically said two of each and the one missing happens to be the best one! Took off one star just for this reason. Not sure how to let the seller know other than writing a review. I am new to K-cups coffee. I bought a flex brew machine that accommodates pods and my own ground coffee. I drank my way through this box and another variety type box. This is a great way to try out coffee without having to buy a half pound bag only to find out you dont care for that coffee. I liked all the brands in the box, though the variety isnt exactly as pictured. That however didnt matter to me.Concurrently I drank coffee from another variety box I found in a grocery store. That box was fine, too, though one type of coffee was LOVE IT! That brand is called Seattles Best. I then bought a 12 oz bag of Seattles Best. For true taste testing, I used one of the K-cup pods as my first cup, and made my second cup using my own coffee, Seattles Best. I continued this experiment for the next 2 weeks until all K-cups were gone. My second cup made of my own coffee won out every time! The machine Im using is Hamilton Beach, which I bought here on Amazon. Its working great for me, small profile and easy to handle. I love having a fresh cup of coffee every time, and its done in a snap!

Notes from the Community

I bought this item based upon the reviews and the name brand. I used it to check my new Wolf oven, and it seemed to consistently indicate the temperature was 15-20° low. It was bothering me enough that I had the Wolf technician come out for testing. He used both thermocouple digital sensor (that reads in 0.1 increments in real time) as well as 2 Taylor mercury oven thermometers. All 3 of his showed consistency with one another, with the thermocouple sensor of course showing more accurate on a second to second basis. The Rubbermaid was 20-25° low at the best of times.Short version, tech told me these spring based thermometers dont work well. I cant argue with what I saw. Ive ordered the Taylor, available on Amazon and Ace Hardware. I suggest passing on this. Taylor was under $14. I bought this after persistent frustration with my oven. I live in a rental apartment and my oven is pretty crappy. I was suspicious that it wasnt as hot as it claimed to be when I preheated it. This isnt such a big deal if youre just throwing a frozen pizza in the oven for twenty minutes, but I like to cook. I feel like my oven has been cheating on me. I needed to catch it in the act.Over the past year and a bit Ive dabbled in bread making. Usually Im pretty handy in the kitchen, and I know how to do my research. I buy all the right flour and yeast, gauge the humidity of the room when rising the dough, hide my sourdough starter in a spot under the bed where the dog and my missus cant find it, inevitably forget about the sourdough starter myself, discover it two months later when I flip the mattress, give up on the idea of sourdough and just make a regular white bread dough, and finally put the loaf in the oven to bake for the time specified in the recipe. After all that work, I end up with consistently cakey bread. Its no good for eating, but its great for propping open the fridge door when Im stacking it with groceries. Its like dwarf bread; Im pretty sure theres a line in The Fellowship of the Rings where Sam complains about it.Anyway, I decided to settle the debate: am I a crummy baker, or is my oven the culprit? So, I bought this thermometer. The result: my oven really does suck! When it beeps for 350F, the thermometer reads 300F. Goodbye, delicious chicken parmigiana; hello salmonella! Goodbye, carefully scheduled 7:30pm dinner; hello, 8:15pm apologies and wine on an empty stomach! In honesty, Im yet to try baking a loaf since buying this thermometer. But it is helping me to restore my faith in my own ability, like a private investigator who reassures you that youre not paranoid; yeah, sorry bud, your wife is cheating on you with her young co-worker, Steve. I cant divorce my oven, but I can keep it honest with this thermometer. Highly recommended. If you looked up the word functional in the dictionary you wouldnt be surprised to see an illustration of an oven thermometer. There is literally NOTHING sexy or appealing about this, but damn is it functional. And this one functions up there with the best of them. The reason we bought this was because I grew suspicious about the temp on our oven. We moved recently, and the oven was in situ, and really new and expensive looking so we didnt want to replace it. But it just wouldnt cook stuff - a key task for an oven - at least not in the time we thought it would. And I am obsessive, perhaps compulsively so, about timing the different parts of a meal to come out at the same time. I hate keeping things warm, or - oh the horror - reheating them, and it was ghastly to time and again have to put stuff back in because it wasnt done, in the meantime everything else not cooked in the oven was spoiling on the side. Enough to give me indigestion. So we bought this, threw it in and pre-heated. 20 degrees off! Who lived in this house before? Savages. Downloaded the PDF manual for the oven, fiddled with the settings and ran the pre-heat test again. The thermometer and oven were in sync and my life joined them again. Now things are cooked on time and meals are no longer ruined. All thanks to this wonderful, functional little thing.Everyone should have one - test your oven, even if you think its okay, and check it again every few months. Ovens can drift, and its better to be safe than ruin your meals. Recommended. Bought a brand new Bosch dual fuel range… the stove is 5 burner Gas but the oven is Electric. I wasnt sure my oven was giving me a true reading so I wanted something to test it for accuracy. I had good luck with the Rubbermaids Commercial Stainless Steel Freezer/Fridge gauge so I took a chance on this one. So I put it into the oven, pushed bake 350 and let it preheat and chime when it hit that temp. Then I waited another 5 minutes just to be sure. Lo and Behold, when I opened the oven door, it said 350 degrees RIGHT ON THE BUTTON… SEE PHOTO. Now I know when I set the oven to 350, its going to be correct and accurate.

First Alert Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Detector Alarm | Battery Operated, SCO5CN

See Price

Description

Style:Battery Powered Alarm | Size:1 Pack Product Description The First Alert SCO5CN Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm features dual sensors to detect both smoke and carbon monoxide in a single device. A photoelectric sensor detects the smoke most often produced by smoldering fires, and minimizes false alarms from cooking smoke or shower steam. Additionally, the advanced electrochemical CO sensor detects carbon monoxide leaks from multiple sources, such as faulty fuel burning appliances, blocked chimneys, and generators running inside or too close to homes. A loud, 85 decibel siren alerts you to the threat; unique alarm sounds and indicator lights on its face distinguish a smoke warning from a carbon monoxide warning. This carbon monoxide and smoke detector is battery operated, so you dont need an electrician for installation. Requiring just two AA batteries and featuring an easy access battery compartment for quick changes, this smoke and carbon monoxide detector has a single button that allows you to silence a false alarm or test the unit. Amazon.com Carbon monoxide (CO) is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America, yet many people dont know they are suffering from CO poisoning until its too late. Since symptoms of CO poisoning are like the flu, you might not even know youre in danger at first. Thats why a carbon monoxide alarm is an excellent way to protect your family. It can detect the CO you cant see, smell or taste in the air. The First Alert SCO5CN carbon monoxide and smoke alarm uses an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor-the most accurate technology available. The alarm uses photoelectric smoke sensing technology which is environmentally friendlier and which reduces nuisance alarms, making it ideal for cooking areas. It is also great for sensing slow smoldering fires quickly. The permanent sensors last the lifetime of the alarm. The test/silence button both silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the units functionality. A low battery signal alerts you to replace the battery and end-of-life alarm of three chirps alerts you to replace the unit. Two AA batteries are included. 5-year limited warranty. UL listed. Not available for sale in Massachusetts.—Bree Norlander Whats in the Box One combination carbon monoxide and smoke alarm, two AA batteries, and users manual. This does not contain voice feature.

Well, they did their jobs…I had a fire in our fireplace that was almost out, down to the coals, so I closed the damper and went to bed. An hour later BEEEBEEEBEEEBEEEP. I looked at the alarm, and the CO LED was flashing. Oops, I guess the coals werent as dead as I thought. It woke me up and the wife.Ive also had it alert to smoke from me accidentally letting a damper close while there was a full-on fire and smoke began to fill the room. Again…oops.I am glad to know they work, and, while Ive been aware of the sources of my troubles so far, I am confident these will alert me if there is some real trouble happening. Purchased 3 of these alarms, after 7 months one of these alarms is cherping 3 times which means malfuntion. It says these are warrantied for 5 years so im going to try and send it back for a replacement. Other two are fine so far.Update:Just got off the phone with First Alert and they are sending me a replacement for free, and with free shipping. Great customer service. This Alarm is a Photoelectric plus carbon monoxide which is a good thing. I would only use a Photolelectric or Dual sensor , Photo / ION . This is regardless of the Carbon monoxide sensor capabilities. Do not rely on an Ion alarm to warn you of smoldering or smoke until its a breathing and moving fire.I tested both alarms myself with a smoke bucket, I was never able to trigger the ION alarm with smoke only in my test. Watch a few YouTube videos on the difference in alarm sensors. Wont make this mistake again, worked for a year and died. Supposedly first alert will replace, but after emailing with them 8 months ago, still havent received the replacement unit. Very sad. Less than 1 month after install, these units started chirping in the pattern indicating that they need to be replaced. These were not expired. VERY disappointed on this purchase. Luckily this happened just a few days before the last day to return. I chose this one because the reviews were good. It malfunctioned within a month. The back of the alarm has a key for the chirps and of course mine was a lemon. It looks like it was just made August 9th, 2017. I received it at the end of October and it died mid-November. It was a waste of money. A close friend of mines family here where I live in Connecticut, many years ago lost 3 children under the age of 10 in a devastating co tragedy.(you can look it up. Suffield,Ct. 1993) Carbon monoxide is nothing to screw around with.I am in the middle of some big renovations to my 100 year old home. I already have a smoke detector in every bedroom and co detector near my furnace. Building inspector came in the other day and suggested some additional ones. So I am adding one in the new finished basement, one on each of the two upper floors and replacing the older unit by the furnace. But Im $5k over budget now and hardwiring in a 100 year old house is obscene. So I went with these. Please people, dont mess around. These are pretty damn cheap insurance. Just do it. Now. You know you will be glad you did. I am. Im actually grateful to the inspector, he got me off my butt. These are inexpensive but very reliable and dependable units. Will take you about 5 minutes to install. What my local fire department recommended. I want to sleep soundly and most importantly, wake up with my whole family. Thanks for reading Packaging:The alarm arrived in clear clam-shell packaging (yuck). In the shell was the alarm, 2 AA alkaline batteries, mounting screws, and instructions. I am a guy so who needs instructions. I am very satisfied with the packaging.Installation:Installation was a breeze. The two batteries were installed so I just had to push in the battery tray. The new alarm was replacing an old First Alert fire alarms that we have had for over 20 years. I now know you should replace alarms every 10 years. I removed the old alarm by loosening the mounting screws a couple turns, turning the old alarm to align the mounting holes and that was that. The new alarm has a base and alarm. The new base fit perfectly over the existing screws from the old alarm. Tighten the screws and the hard part is done. Then place the alarm over the mounting plate and give a 1/3 turn and you are done.Operation:After it were mounted I pushed the test button and the unit gave two sets of 3 beeps. Happy alarm.Observations:I have heard that the alkaline batteries provided last between one and two years. When they do wear out I will be trying Lithium batteries to see if they last longer. I tried Lithium 9V batteries in the old alarms and two out of four had corrosion on the positive terminal after one year. (P.S. the other three were new fire only alarms). The only time our fire alarms have ever gone off is when my bride has used them as a dinner bell. Alarm goes off = Dinner is done. PBJ for dinner tonight.

Edit 5/9/19 - So the seller asked if I would receive a new unit at this point to see if they could take care of the original issues I had with the first product. This unit seems to have fixed all of my original issues with the product over the past 2 weeks. They went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. I would recommend.Original review - I meal prep and I bought this to weigh out all my food for the entire week and then cook. The one day I cook a week I use this scale for maybe a half-hour in total on time. I turn it off and then the next week I go to turn it on the batteries are dead. Ive changed the batteries everytime I use it essentially. This thing drains the battery even when not in use. Bought this scale to weigh my litter of puppies. Its fantastic so far. I just put a plate on it, tare the plate, and then set a puppy on it. Works like a charm. Would definitely recommend it. Plus its very nice looking. Great for the kitchen if thats what youre buying it for. This scale is terrible. It is true, you get what you pay for and I only paid $8. The weight reading continues to move up and down. I used a calibrated scale side by side and weighed 4 grams. This scale went back and forth from 3-5 while the other one gave exactly 4. Honestly wish I had spent a little extra money on a better scale. I work in law enforcement and need more precise weights than +/- 1. Easy to use, pretty accurate scale, love the way it looks (very sleek and easy to clean since its a stainless steel top)The only issue i had is looking at the actual read out… Since the entire thing is pretty flat on the top, if you place any sort of decent sized bowl or plate, it completely obstructs the digital screen. You end up having to see if you can push back the bowl and get a look at while bending over to look under the curve of the bowl or placing a thinner box and the plate or bowl on top of the box.Honestly the scale would have been 5 stars but the fact you cant see the display without going through a mission is pretty annoying.EDIT: After giving it 3 stars Etekcity contacted me to let me know that they had a larger version and sent it free of charge, it was the Etekcity Digital Kitchen Scale Multifunction Food Scale with 30% Wider Platform 11lb 5kg, 3 GP Batteries Included (Stainless Steel), which pretty much negates the issue I mentioned above. And after I looked it up they have a newer version of the one I was sent that has the read out to the side which seems even more practical. For customer service alone, I had to raise my initial 3 stars to four! This stainless steel scale works really well for us. For the price you cant beat it.If you cook and bake a lot like we do, the scale helps achieve an accurate measurement. Its super convenient when a recipe calls for an ingredient in grams and you dont have the tools to measure, this scale is simple to use and accurate. In our video you can see it turns on quickly. You can change the unit while the item is on the scale. And it turns off within seconds.Weve used this scale many times over the last few years and we are still using the same AAA batteries it came with. The small grips on the bottom of the scale are nice to have.Overall its a great scale and even better price! Not sensitive to low weights. The scale is almost useless for measuring out spices and yeast and other items which are in the low single digits of grams. You can only work around it by putting something heavy on the scale (like a plate), then putting the measuring paper on top of that and then pouring on the ingredient. The last scale I bought from Amazon did not have this problem. The scale is also grossly imprecise, on the order of 10-20%. This can be tested easily - put a cup on the scale and measure a significant amount of ingredients, say 14 grams of salt and 6 grams of sugar. Remove the cup and put a different cup on the scale, tare the weight, then pour in what should be 20 grams from the first cup. It will come out WAY different. This scale is basically trash. The last scale I bought from amazon was routinely accurate to within 1%. I just recently received this beautiful and most of all easy to use kitchen scale by Etekcity! This scale was extremely accurate and precise. When measuring cooking ingredients, I was relieved to know that the digital scale did not become imprecise, meaning bouncing back and forth between decimal points despite the unit changes when shifting to and from grams, ounces, and milliliters. Overall, the scale could also virtually fit anywhere in a kitchen (I.e., kitchen drawer, cabinet, on the counter etc.) In addition, the scale is quite nicely made and I suspect that it will be very durable and last me a long time! I considered long and hard about how to rate this product. It is designed to do one thing, weigh small amounts of food. It is aesthetically designed well. And that is as far as it goes in delivering on its intended function. The tare or zero function is coupled to the measuring function. Meaning, when you put a dish on the scale then zero the display, the resulting value will include the weight of your finger pushing the button. The product fails to do what it is advertised to do; accurately measure the weight of food. The designer must not be an engineer. I would recommend another product to weigh food. I will be returning this and finding a better product. When I do I will update this review with my findings. (I gave it two stars because. It looks nice)

I used this product for bug bites. It almost instantly stopped the bites from hurting or itching. I also used it for dry skin on the bottoms of my feet. Love this stuff. I get really itchy skin sometimes and this has helped tremendously with any skin agitation I have. I also love the lavender and eucalyptus oils in it. It smells great. I was worried my skin might end up being oily from the balm but it rubs in nicely not leaving a oily feeling on my skin. The balm is 2 oz. It will last you a really long time. You only need a little to alleviate any skin irritations. I used this cream to help get rid of foot fungus on my left foot. So far, after about a week of use, my foot is looking and feeling so much better. I really like how thick the balm is and the smell is pretty relaxing too. Smells great! Is not sticky at all. Easy to put on, my skin feels nice and fresh! I really like using this in my skincare routine to plump my skin & help my skin rejuvenate, it has helped heal my old dark spots, my skin feels softer & I have a natural glow after using this that I didnt have before. My skin looks healthier now. Been using this product for about a week now (every night, sometimes during the day) and my skin has cleared up so much! My texture has gone away, I wake up with less and less acne every morning, and my overall skin clarity is improving greatly. Most likely will be buying a second bottle! Great product, fast shipping, small so its good for travel Have been using for little over a week and already see results. My face feels softer.

Notes from the Community

I bought the very first Martha Stewart Living back in the 1990s and thought it was amazing. Looked forward to it each month for years before I moved on. This last December, I decided to try another subscription. What a massive disappointment. The magazine is thin. Good Things is gone. No crafts, diy, or decorating. Almost nothing about home (unless you count cleaning, whoop-di-doo). Mostly its ads or ads masquerading as articles (as in buy this product, buy that product, blah-blah-blah). I suppose if youre into cooking and beauty advise, you can get enough out of it to make it worthwhile. Im halfway through the year and wont be renewing. Just got my first mag of Martha Stewart Living…Way more ads than readable content. I wouldnt want to watch a show thats 90% commercials and really dont want to read a magazine thats 90% ads! I USED to love this mag. What happened? Its littered with ads, and skimpy on good content. The articles used to be longer and excellently written, with arrestingly lush photography. The old magazines were keepers. So sorry to see this mag going the way of most other readables in the world…catering to the video generation who seem to have the reading attention span of circus fleas. The issues years ago were bigger and better. These are thin and not as good as before, I wont be renewing my subscription. The magazine is a far cry from the quality it should be. Many of the advertisements they allow are unattractive and unpleasant. The content is only marginal in interest, beauty and quality. Its flimsy and thin whereas in the past it was a much more content rich product. When you sign up for a subscription be aware they automatically renew you and you need to unclick this button on your manage subscriptions page. I did not want to renew mine and am currently doing battle with the Hearst staff to argue the point that when I did manage to cancel my unwanted renewed subscription, they (someone) deleted my accounts and now I cannot prove that they owed me some replacement issues that arrived damaged or actually missing. Yes we know the magazine and nobody would ever order it if it was terrible ( though comparing the lest two years editions versus the ones published years before the reduction in topics, articles and number of pages is significant).I would like to advice you ordering from Meredith: dont!!!!In the age of Internet, and extreme leve and amount of electronic data processing - 3 MONTHS of processing is ridiculous and unacceptable!!!They process payment in seconds!Lots to work on Meredith! Its cheap so no complaints about that, a few good ideas and the recipes looked interesting. Everything in the mag can be found on the website. As other reviewers have noted, it has a ton of ads etc. The quality of the images and paper have declined but I assume this is due to the fact that magazines are less popular than they were years ago. Mine arrived ripped as it was quite delicate. It was quite thin too, I remember this mag once being pretty fat, especially for a holiday issue…was hoping for more gardening and decorating images and ideas. I used to subscribe to Living years ago, but stopped due to lack of free time. I picked it up again, but cant say Im impressed. The recipes require non-standard ingredients or dont appeal to me and the craft projects were uninspired. I do better with Pinterest feeds. In fact, the only recipe I kept from the magazine was from an advertisement.
