Notes from the Community

Im a long-time faithful user of Norton products, as evidenced by the fifteen different subscriptions that show up in my Norton account. More on that later. For the most part, Ive never had a problem with Norton products. I always opt to buy the retail version because it is far cheaper than their renewal pricing, even their sale or special pricing. I have yet to catch any malware while under Nortons watch although much of that is also in part due to common sense and experience gained from working in the IT field.Last year, Norton decided to change to a new subscription model. Some aspects of it are great, such as the ability to finally protect a realistic number of devices affordably under one license. The three device limit was too limited even a decade ago, let alone now. With Norton premium, I can protect 10 devices for a realistic price. Considering the size of my family and the number of computing and mobile devices we use, even that isnt sufficient to cover every device but at least all of the most vulnerable devices like our PCs are covered. It appears Norton has gone completely cloud based. I ordered the so-called retail package instead of the cloud version from Amazon. I was sent a box with a card inside that had an activation URL and a key code on it. Thats it. Honestly, they should stop offering the retail version altogether if thats the case. At least ship the cards in envelopes or something else smaller than traditional sized software boxes large enough to hold a jewel-cased optical disk and instruction manual.Norton Security Premium works on PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets. I can speak from both personal experience and feedback from other users that although it technically works on Apple devices, its pretty much worthless in OSX and iOS. It is great on Android and Windows devices, offering true protection and no noticeable performance hit. It can actually do more harm than good to Macs and offers nothing useful at all on iOS devices. Apple owners, save your loot, seriously.Installation is usually straightforward. In the past, Id simply uninstall the previous version and install the new version. It seems that recent past versions did a much better job of removing all of the files it installed. The new Norton Security seems to be falling back into some of the bad habits of much earlier versions of Norton, leaving files behind that can interfere with subsequent installs. I had a few hiccups with my new installation and activation that I hadnt encountered in at least the past 3-4 years. Once installed, it offers antivirus and malware protection as well as online protection, automated backup and 25 GB of cloud storage. Basically, I only use the AV/malware portion. It also offers child monitoring features through Norton Family but they can be had for free with a Norton account. In fact, the Premier version of Norton Family will set you back fifty-bucks regardless of which version of Norton Security you own.Norton goes way out of the way to make retail upgrades… well, actually, there is no such thing because a new retail license is just that, a new retail license. True upgrades have to be purchased directly from Symantec. Despite being offered the option to enter a new product key in my recently expired subscription, it didnt work in either the online management or the desktop client. I had to create a new subscription in my account, uninstall the expired client and download and re-install the client from the new subscription tab. Speaking of tabs, Norton management provides no way to delete expired subscription tabs. I have fifteen tabs for products dating back years and fourteen of them are expired. Each has a button offering to renew but none has an option to delete. Its cluttered and ridiculous looking. Im almost ready to create a new Norton account because Im so tired of the messy interface. Despite some good points like dynamic online management of specific device licenses, the entire management scheme seems very clumsy. So thats my take. Norton Security does a good job of protecting my PC with minimal impact on the resources. It is pretty much worthless on my Mac and iOS devices but they dont really need quite as badly as my other devices anyhow. Plus, I have better options, at least on my Mac. Activation and renewal seem to have gotten clumsier with the new version along with uninstalling. Those minor headaches are no reason to jump ship. Best of all, it protects 10 PCs for pretty much the same price I paid to protect a paltry number of three PCs as recently as a year ago. I like the ability to protect all my computers as well as my other family members but it comes at a cost.. annoying, repeated, LARGE (3 inches by 5 inches) popup windows blathering about how good Norton is at protecting you and running ads for their other products and/or services you either dont have or havent, and dont want enabled. Some of these come just a minute or two after dismissing the last popup window. Many of the windows have a Dont show this anymore button which appears to only affect THAT particular window, not the next ones to come (see screen shots).Youve likely seen other reviews talking about their ridiculous licensing scheme.. when your year license is close to expiring, they offer you a discount which makes their renewal price far more than youll pay for a retail license for this product. If you buy an new retail license, Symantec provides a way for you to register your new license key to your accounts, however, doing so will create a New license tab (not a renewal) which will NOT continue the protection on all your computers. You will have to uninstall the software from EVERY protected computer/device and then re-install it with the new licensed software in order to cover those computers for another year. This doesnt happen if you pay them their high price of renewal, which suggests this is deliberate, to offer no cheaper alternative to renewing directly through them. This creates the headache of visiting every computer/device to un/re-install. If you have family members in other state, as I do, this makes protecting them a chore. All in all, it works great but 1. When I pay for a software product, the expectation is that it is not Ad Based. I dont want to see a constant barrage of large popup windows telling me about all their other products or how theyre always on the job protecting me. 2. Dont create such a nightmare for renewing or re-licensing the product. Unable to download; stated product key already redeemed. Said to call a # for tech support which was a sells pitch and they stated I couldnt download because I had virus and the virus was blocking. Remoted in to my computer and showed me a foreign IP address (which the person I was speaking to was foreign. Now I really do have a virus on my computer. It keeps locking up and everything which it did not do before I called this Norton Tech Support place. They wanted me to pay $250.00 plus for them to fix the problem and install my Norton. I have never had issues with Norton in the past. Now I am concerned with fraud and my personal information being compramised. They did ask for my full name, mailing address, email address and phone #. I am really concerned for my phone and email being hacked now…I believe when these people remoted in, they hacked my computer…I thought I knew better but because the phone # was linked to the Norton website address listed in the packaging, I thought it was safe.

Notes from the Community

This is the only shaver Ive had that consistently gives my coarse beard a good shave. I have thick whiskers, with the ones on my neck growing flat against it instead of sticking out. This makes foil shavers pretty much ineffective although a Braun series 7 came close but it vibrates severely and takes much longer to shave than with this Norelco. For the record, I first wash my face in the shower and then apply Lectric Shave to stand up my whiskers and lubricate my face for shaving. Ive also had success with with a light, non gel foam (Gillette Foamy) but its messier and the shave is no better than with the Lectric Shave. When my old version of this shaver died after several years of service, I tried one of the newer 5700 series shavers for several months. Even though they use the same blade sets (SH50/52/previously HQ8), the 4500 gives me a much better shave. Its not just my imagination… I ordered this 4500 and shaved the next day with it for a very noticeable improvement. Im guessing that the difference must be in the springiness of the blades, the head pivot, and/or the rotation speed. As far as functionality goes, it is great. I always go with this classic Norelco design as I think it is the best of all time. I replaced my 4 year old Norelco (that is right, 4 years without needing new blades or any problems-which is why I trust this brand) with this one. Does not feel as well made as my old one, but still very nice. The grip material replaced shell material from previous models (is it for function or is it for corner-cutting? I do not know). Cool digital display. It has increased water proofing than my last model. The first time I used it I didnt have to shave again for longer than usual because it was so close. Also, this model will not let you shave while it is plugged in. Guess what? My last model having a dead battery didnt mean it was bricked because I could plug it in and shave. This one…once the battery no longer will hold a charge (and I bet it is cheaper than previous models and will die faster) it is probably useless. At that point are you going to replace the battery or just buy a new one prematurely? My old one lasted so long…just got dull and gross and it was time to replace it.Lastly: I was very disappointed with the attention to detail Norelco usually has. The print on the back was washed out in places, uneven, and really just cheapened the overall appearance of the product (see the photo: ELECTRONICS is washed out in the first few letters, and other places have issues). It is very noticeable to the naked eye. If they are not at least making their print look nice on the outside, what is the quality of the stuff on the inside? Little things like this lead me to believe the brand is in decline. Or making products cheaper specifically for Amazon, or some QC/QA middlemen are not being used, to cut corners. The no hassle packaging is a euphemism for corner cutting and was very chincy for a supposedly high quality product.Do not get me wrong, this thing is effective and is functionally terrific, but it will be used as an experiment to see if it lasts as long as the last one and test to see if the brand is still holding up to their sturdy older products. I had to give this cheap knock off one star so I could write a scathing review. I have been using Norelco razors since 1987. Of maybe 10 or 12 Norelco razors, this is the cheapest, poorest quality, disfunctional Norelco Ive ever heard about. My seven year old Soectra 8831XL, which Ive never changed a blade on shaves MUCH better than this piece of garbage out of the box. When trimming my mustache, the blades stopped and got stuck in my mustache. I charged the battery overnight and its brand new so the blades should be sharp, yet I had to rip this faulty razor out of my mustache, painful. Once it was out, it started running again. This Norelco has so little power a well groomed mans blonde hair is too much for the basic functions which its designed for. Also, when you turn it on it just sounds cheap. It sounds nothing like any other Norelco Ive owned. Its lighter, flimsier, feels cheap, the motor lacks efficient power, sounds cheap, cannot trim or shave as well as decades old Norelcos with dull blades, and the trimmer release has been redesigned and makes it impossible to evenly trim your mustache or beard. My next step is to contact Norelco and verify the serial number, I suspect this is a cheap Chinese knock off being marketed as a product from a reputable company with a reputation and quality, reliability, and customer service. Disappointed Im a long-time user of Philips Norelco shavers and have been very happy. The 2 that I had were not holding charges anymore, simply a result of the maximum number of charge cycles on the NiCad batteries. They both worked flawlessly otherwise and are still usable if the charging cords are connected. I read some reviews of the 4500, some negative, but decided to purchase it anyway, choosing to wait to write a review until after Id had some experience with it. Im totally satisfied with the unit. I get a shave virtually identical to the older models (the 4500 uses the same blade set!) and it hold a charge and delivers that charge excellently. The one-hour charge time is far superior to the older models that I had and the feel of the shaver is very similar to my older shavers. The only difference might be that this newer model doesnt turn quite as fast. Still, I get a good close shave.Im on the road about half the year so my 4500 stays in my travel bag; I still use the older ones at home, with the cord connected. I do NOT immerse the 4500 to clean it. I use the brush and I also have some Norelco shaving head spray lubricant that I use occasionally/randomly/when I feel that the heads could use it.I think its an excellent value. Terrific battery life, good handling feel, and a good, close shave.

Got Echo Show as gift from my son last Christmas. At first we had it in our bedroom but after realizing that Alexa is watching and listening to us all the time we decided to place our Echo Show in our living room. I have also installed smart switches and plugs to control lights in various parts of the house and also paired the Echo with different bluetooth speakers. The problem is I have to go near the Echo to give Alexa the command. If I want to listen to music in our bedroom I have to go out of our room and be near Alexa to ask her to play music and switch to bluetooth speaker In our bedroom. Now with Alexa Voice Remote I can give command while Im on bed. To make sure Alexa is listening first command is to ask her to connect to bluetooth speaker on my bedside table or to my TV soundbar (need to call out specific speaker name that was registered in Echo during tha pairing process). From then on I can talk to Alexa as if Echo is my side and I dont have to worry that Alexa is listening coz you need to press talk button for Alexa to hear you (lol). By the way, the instruction that comes with the Alexa Voice does not include pairing with Echo Show and so for a moment Ithought it was made to Echo and Echo Dot only and will not work on Echo Show but It did not take long for me to find the instruction from Amazon Device Support. Im truly happy with this purchase. this thing is a useless lump… IF YOU WANT MULTIROOM AUDIO CONTROL. hear me out. you pair it with one Echo (as the website says). no problem. you start multiroom audio (either from the voice remote, by shouting at alexa or from another room whatever). as SOON as you start multiroom audio the echo this remote is paired with… DISCONNECTS the remote. you cant even change volume, let alone stop or change audio. NO WHERE does it say this on this ad, or in amazon help. amazon support says this is considered controlling multiple devices and isnt supported. throwing it in a drawer since i didnt keep the box. This will be my 4th… YES FOURTH remote I had to re-purchase after the other ones stopped working(all in 2017!!!). If you check all the negative reviews I have had all of the same problems. 1-The voice remote button stopped working 2-the mic button works, but alexa never answers 3-the entire remote stopped working (when I inserted new batteries the remote started to get warm…I thought it was going to start a fire). The only reason why I keep getting new remotes is because the brick and mortar amazon store is around the corner from my job and keeps allowing me to exchange/return at no cost. The voice remote is a device that has become part of my every day and I find I cannot be without it. From working out in a different room from my echo dot to streaming music in an outhouse and outdoors its VERY convenient and useful. Amazon…please if you are reading this FIX THE PROBLEMS ONCE AND FOR ALL. I am not rough with these remotes. I do not perspire on these remotes…I have not dropped the remotes…they are not durable. Please address these issues at your next meeting!!! This hasnt worked for me. I have several Amazon dots and Echo devises, and am generally very impressed with their design and operation. However, while the dot I have installed with an outdoor audio system works seamlessly when I speak to it directly, when I use the Alexa voice remote it doesnt recognize 90% of my music requests from my extensive Amazon Prime library. It will recognize generic requests such as play Beethoven, Jazz, etc.), but if I request a specific artist, song, or album from one of the 3,000+ albums in my Prime Music library it invariably fails, and pulls up something completely unrelated to my request, or tries to direct me to Pandora. I dont write many reviews unless the product in question is extremely bad or extraordinarily good. In this case I am happy to say this was the later. If you enjoy playing with you echo dot, But find yourself screaming to get alexa to stop, you will love this remote. If you hooked your echo dot to a big home stereo and use it like a voice activated jukebox (only way better!!!) you will love this remote. The range is awesome it goes through all the walls in my house. I can turn off the lights in my bedroom by voice even though the echo dot is in the front room. You just have to remember that when you use the remote you do not have to say the trigger Alexa just push the button with the microphone icon on it hold it down for a second so that it has time to trigger the dot, and say Play Led Zepplin stairway to heaven or whatever you desire to do. Or whatever wifi things you have configured for your echo. I have tplink lights in several rooms so I can just say my bedroom off or my bedroom on etc. Plus the remote has a pause fast forward play and rewind on it so if you are playing your song library you can just hit pause or go to the next song with it or hit the mic button and say next. I think the negative reviews I have read in the past were because people did not understand how it works

kids headphones on-ear Navy/Teal

My sons class required headphones this year for computer lab. He hates wearing anything on his head or ears. These are pretty light but sturdy and comfortable on the ears. They stay put and block outside noise. I tried them and I think Im going to buy some for myself. Im very impressed with the price and quality. I love these headphones! I teach in a technology lab for kindergarten. We have gone through lots of headphones the past several years. I finally decided it was worth paying a little extra to buy nice headphones. My kids think they are so comfortable! I especially love the cord. It is thick and made of a material that should definitely hold up to kids twisting it, chewing on it and jerking it. I have already ordered a second set of them. The Noot K11s are not that great, but considering you can pick them up for <$10 and that they outperform more expensive units (I compared to AILIHEN HD30 Kids Headphones, HD30 Volume Limiting Children Headset with Microphone for Girls Boys and Tablets Computer Laptops IOS Android Smartphone (White/Blue) and Intone Ms200 Intone Ms200 Stereo Low Bass Folding and Adjustable Headphone Earbuds - White / Green) in both sound quality and volume, the choice for me was obvious.I returned the HD30 (the Ms200 broke after 1.5 years) and picked up another pair of Noot K11. If they break in a year, Ill just get another one.Let me be clear - the sound quality is not even close to what any audiophile would want to use, or even a regular person, but for small kids who watch cartoons and listen to a bit of music, these are perfectly satisfactory.Pictured:- left: Noot K11- right: AILIHEN HD30 Ive had them for a few weeks. Went pull them out of my kids iPad and the connector broke. Cmon. Just a few weeks. They were definitely not maltreated or rough-housed with. The metal portion got stuck in the headphone jack. Really annoying to have headphones advertised for kids and theyre not made to last. Garbage. Dont buy these. These headphones did not even last 2 days before the piece that inserts into the headphone jack broke. I would not recommend these at all for childrens headphones due to their poor construction. Awesome headphones!! My son is autistic and hates certain noises. He uses these headphones ALL the time. I have been through over 50 pairs of headphones and ear muffs. He loves these and they are durable and work fantasticly. I highly recommend. Its a great product for the price. I bought these headphones for my son to use at school. By the end of his first day using them, the speaker stopped working in one of the ears! I returned them and got my account credited, but it was a huge disappointment and forced my son to go without sound on his iPad for school while I ordered another pair from another company. Perfect for school! We were looking for a pair of headphones for our seven-year-old daughters second grade class! These sound fantastic, they are in stereo, they are very comfortable and the cord is perfect because it wont get frayed and spliced like the cheap other ones we had!

Notes from the Community

I have been reading about sleeping with a red ambient light, so I decided to get this model of the Aukey LED light. After a few nights of really amazing sleep, filled with lucid dreams, my dog figured out how to use it to wake me up!I used the light the first during the day on a green color, which seemed to compensate for my lack of plants in the apartment, then I moved it to my bedroom nightstand. I would set it up on red (which thankfully is the first color you get) and then go to sleep, have amazing lucid dreams (which I totally attribute to this light) and wake up refreshed around 4am, at which point I would turn off the light. At 6am I was woken up by the light, because my dog booped it with her nose. She was so happy with herself (as a side, she also rings a bell when she is hungry). I love this light, my doggo loves this light. Here is a video of @abbiegailblue booping it for you to enjoy! I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this, and many of the negative reviews mentioned how there is a constant light that emits from the unit when it is fully off. I considered not purchasing the unit as Im the type of person who needs a pitch black room to sleep.I purchased the unit anyway, and I do not regret it. I immediately noticed the light that stays on when the unit is off, and I decided that I could fix that. WARNING: I do not recommend that you do this as it may void your warranty. I felt around the bottom and found four screw holes in the rubber pad. I peeled back the pad in those spots and unscrewed the phillips screws. The offending LEDs are to the right of the ribbon cable. I covered them up with electrical tape, which was enough to stop any light from coming out of them.I also noticed that some of the negative reviews mention that the power cable comes out of what appears to be the side of the unit. I have an even easier solution for this, just turn your lamp so the power cable is at the back lol.Feature request: give the lamp memory so that it can remember the color you left it on when you shut it off/turn it on. Id also like to know what the void in the bottom of the lamp is for. It seems as though it could be used to store a battery pack or some extra smart electronics to control it through a cell phone. Im conflicted. On one hand this is an attractive, portable, multi-colored LED light with a clever touch-based control system. On the other hand its a disposable plastic lamp—theres no access to the bulb, so when it burns out you have to toss the entire unit in the trash—that cant be utilized with any smart-home system. Forget turning on the light remotely with Alexa or Siri.I initially bought this lamp along with a Sylvania Bluetooth light, assuming Id be able to swap out the bulbs and integrate the lamp into my homekit system. Nope. I considered returning the lamp, but I actually like the look of it in my kitchen, and the touch-controls (simply touch the base to activate the light, touch again to brighten, long-press to change colors) are intuitive and convenient. However—even though LED lights have a ridiculously long life span—this is 2018 and the average consumer is sensitive to environmental concerns. Frankly, in this era, purchasing a disposable lamp shouldnt even be an option.Update: subsequent to posting my review, I received an email from Aukey in which a representative thanked me for my input and claimed that the company is seriously considering changing the design of the lamp so that the bulb is replaceable. Which…maybe? Either way I do appreciate the effort and the admirable customer service. Aukey also offered me a full refund, which I declined. The truth is that I like this lamp. The one-touch function is useful, the lamp looks nice, and I enjoy all of the color and brightness options. I hope they do end up altering the design, but as disposable lamps go, this is a solid purchase. Nice Bedside Lamp! I purchased this lamp and it was defective - the touch sensor didnt work. Since Amazon has such an effortless return policy, I didnt contact the manufacturer about it and just returned it to Amazon and received a refund. I also posted a review, noting the issues I had with this lamp. As others have noted, the touch sensor is hit-or-miss and many other customers had problems similar to mine. About a day after I posted my review, Aukey contacted me directly, offering to send me a replacement lamp free of charge. After confirming my mailing address on Friday, I received a replacement lamp on Monday. Now - my original review noted that this was an extremely nice lamp. I was very happy with the lamp as a whole; my only issue was that the touch sensor wasnt responsive. Another problem I noted was that the lamp was extremely lightweight and had a smooth bottom, so touching the lamp to activate the sensor caused the whole lamp to shift across whatever surface it was on.I believe my original lamp was an older version, or just one that happened to be defective. My replacement is perfection! The touch sensor works extremely well. There is an indicator light on the front that glows blue at all times when the lamp is plugged in. There are three levels of brightness to the white light - one touch turns the indicator light yellow and it turns on at the lowest brightness; a second touch turns the indicator light orange and the brightness goes up a level; and a third touch turns the indicator light red and then you get full brightness. My first lamp didnt do that at all - the indicator just turned red when the sensor was touched. Holding your finger on the sensor for a few seconds activates the color changing mode. Hold your finger on the sensor for a couple of seconds when the lamp is on and the lamp turns off.The strength of the light is excellent - the lowest white light setting is fairly bright; I would think it is too bright for a night-light in a room where you were sleeping, but would be an excellent minimal light in a hallway or bathroom. The middle brightness is great and the highest brightness is sufficient to read by. The range of light is very large - it lights upward from the base and the light is cast around the room very well. At the highest brightness setting, it easily illuminates a regular-size room comfortably. The color changing mode is spectacular - an extremely wide range of colors and shades that shift smoothly. This mode also puts out a great deal of illumination; just in a variety of colors.Best of all, this lamp has a silicon ring on the bottom that keeps the lamp stationary on whatever surface it is sitting on!Others have noted that the blue indicator light on the front and the red power light where the power cord plugs in are somewhat bright, especially in a dark room. My initial lamp had both of those lights and they were somewhat bright. However, this replacement doesnt have the red power light at the power cord - just the blue indicator light in the front. I dont find it to be exceptionally bright and it doesnt bother me at night, but your mileage may vary.Overall, this is a wonderful lamp; however, I want to emphasize how impressive Aukey is as a company. They saw my 3-star review, read it, noted the issues I had with their product, contacted me, and sent me a new item - absolutely free of charge. They were courteous and responsive to my issues and provided me with a solution. I admit that I am very spoiled by Amazons no-hassle return policy and I never contact sellers or manufacturers with any issues I may have - I find it much easier to just return the item to Amazon. However, this experience has been so positive with Aukey that I highly recommend anyone having an issue with any of their products to contact the company directly.I am extremely impressed with this company as a whole and very satisfied with this lamp. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good, adjustable lamp with a low profile. In the future, I will have no hesitation with purchasing other items from this company. Great service!

This camera is the best money ever spent. Just caught someone breaking in to my apartment to steal pain medication from my son a week after brain surgery. The guy the apartment sent to change the locks was the guy in the video!! This camera has worked well for me, a non-tech person. I have tried to answer as many of the common questions asked about this camera as I could.I am not sure why, but there is a lot of misinformation out there, especially in some of the top reviews. Some of the problems have been fixed in software updates, but much of the information is just not correct. Hopefully these reviews will be updated at some point.(Edit 8/11/2018 I have noticed many of those top reviews with bad info and most of those camera caught the thief video reviews are gone for some reason). You can download and watch videos on a PC with the free plan (in the last 24 hours) You can watch live stream on a computer via cloudcam.amazon.com You can turn off audio playback (from the app) You can invert the video (from the app) You can turn of the infrared night light (from the app)UNPACKAGINGPackage came on time and was without any damage, but there was no padding inside the shipping box. Included in the main box were the camera, USB cable, AC adaptor for 110 voltage, small setup manual, wall mount and two drywall screws (see photos).OVERALL FIRST IMPRESSIONSCamera seems well made and a little smaller than I thought it would be. All items were included and in good condition. The image on the live view in daylight was good (see photo), images appeared sharp and easy to identify. Sound was crystal clear. I turned on the TV, went into another room and was easily able to watch the TV and hear the sound very clearly when it came through. There were some breakups of the sound at times though, making me miss some of the audio detail. But night vision is dark and grainy, it is not easy to make out itemsSETUPSet up took me less than 11 minutes which includes downloading the app and logging into all accounts. I am not a big tech guy but setup was quite easy. Basically you just plug the camera in to the AC adapter, download the Amazon Cloud Cam app to your phone, wait for the blue blinking light on the camera to change to a pulsating blue and green light, and you will hear a chime sound. This means the camera is ready for setup. Then you just hit the setup button on your phone and in about 3 minutes it is working. I am using a Moto E as my video source and for the app.HOW IT WORKSYou can watch live view or see the video clips the camera took upon it detecting movement. It quickly took several short videos detecting movement when I walked around. I also received a sound and text notice on my phone of Motion detected every time it detected motion and took a video, and when I touch the notice it will play the video for me. I do seem to get a lot of We were unable to play this video error codes when I first try to play the video, but usually it will play when I hit the blue replay button. I have not upgraded my plan so I will only get the last 24 hours of video. It does not take pictures but you can easily do this by just taking a screenshot (see photo) on your android phone, normally this is just hitting the power button and volume button at the same time. Or you could do a Print Screen on your computer when viewing recorded video clips. You can view the recorded videos AND download video clips from a PC with the free plan, just go to www.amazon.com/clouddrive, sign in, then when watching your videos in the upper right hand corner there is a download icon. You can also view live feed or videos up to 24 hours any time with the basic included plan on your cell phone or computer.GLASS WINDOWSIt will take video through a window as it can detect movement. Image for me was still pretty good. But at night the infrared light will glare badly on the windows blurring your view almost completely. You can turn off the infrared light via the app though, and using just a porch light I captured cool videos of many animals at night.WHAT I DO NOT LIKEIn my opinion this camera has poor night vision. It does have the ability to see live view from a computer even though many reviews say you cannot do this. Just go to cloudcam.amazon.com to set it up.I set this camera up to watch my car in my driveway as a test, but at night even at low sensitivity it goes constantly, recoding everything. OK, no problem yet. But when I go to Amazon Drive, I see a lot of recorded videos that I just want to delete. But as of now, I have to look at each one individually, and then hit the delete button each time. I would think this could be MUCH easier. I might take a star off for this in the future (maybe it is just something I do not see or have figured out?).Edit: Thx to Regolith who gave me an option to quickly delete the videos, see his/her two comments under the comments section, they worked well for me. It can work for the phone or the computer.ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS ASKED You can download videos to a PC on the free plan in the last 24 hours You can view live stream on a PC via cloudcam.amazon.com It has no local SD storage Sound plays very clearly and loud You can turn off audio playback It only records if it detects movement This is an indoor camera only, it is not waterproof You can turn the camera on/off through the app When the camera detects motion, you receive a text and sound alert via a cell phone You can turn off the IR (infrared night light) It does not pan or zoom Night vision is dark and grainy, not easy to make out photos While camera viewing is wireless, it requires a wire to power it (it is not battery operated) You can have the camera image rotate 180 degrees for ceiling mounting Does not require a base station (some do, I have no idea what a base station is for)THOUGHTSI have not owned another camera to influence me one way or another.I have continuously updated this review as I have used and tested this camera out. Sorry to write so much, I know most people do not like detailed long reviews but I always write what I would want to know about an item before I make a purchase. Any misinformation please let me know or if you have any questions please ask via comments, I will answer what I can. Not three weeks after installing the Amazon Cloud Cam I received an alert of motion at our hunting cabin. There should not have been anyone there and I was surprised to find video of someone breaking-in and collecting our tools and hunting gear to take with him. I was not able to catch him in real time, but I was able to alert the Sherriff Dpt. within minutes of him leaving. With the 25 separate videos of the suspect the cloud Cam provided, the Sherriff Dpt. were able to quickly find him, our property, and put him in jail. Well worth the price of admission to put a bad guy in jail. Its a nice camera. Good quality and compact size. Capturing the sound is good, although not the best quality vs other cameras. The biggest issue and I think most important, is the camera will NOT send you a motion alert until AFTER the event has concluded. So if someone is in your home and the motion is constant, the camera will continue to capture the event, but NOT report it to you until motion has stopped. So that may when the person is leaving your place… We ordered this camera on thanksgiving just because it was on sale. It was delivered by Saturday and I installed it immediately. Sunday my family and I went out of town and I was excited to be able to watch our dog through the cloud cam app. On the way home Sunday evening, I received a notification that motion was detected. I open the app and see that my house had caught on fire and my dog was stuck inside. After calling 911 and a neighbor to break in to rescue our dog, I reopened the app to see the entire room filled with smoke and the fire blazing in the kitchen. Luckily this app saves videos for a week so I was able to share them with our fire department. I was also able to download the videos as well as zoom in to see what caused the fire (my dog hit the stove burner on). The camera is now melted and ruined, but I am forever grateful. I will order another one when we can live in our home again. Thank you Amazon for the sale and thank the universe nothing worse happened! I got the Amazon Cloud cam to see what my cats do during the day. Today, I had left the house and was out running errands. I got an alert that motion was detected in my Kitchen. I looked at the live view and saw a person had broken into my home. I used the microphone feature and yelled at him to get out of my house and told him the police were on the way. He immediately left. Thank you Amazon - without my cloud cams, this could have had a very different ending.

Very short and thin, they just roll up and down my limbs and Im 53 so I have no idea how anyone taller could use them and I am very afraid theyre going to break and snap me I got these for 80 Day obsession in 52 130 lbs and they are constantly rolling never had them not roll. So sad, just buy the beach body ones and save your money. It is very uncomfortable when they roll and I would rather focus on my workout instead of the rolling band. They roll something terrible! I have tried to double the bands, and they still roll. Then they stick to themselves and it take a while to get them back to normal. An hour workout will turn into 2 with these bands. All of the bands have broken. They all break at the spot where they join the band to make a loop.In general the bands have a good amount of resistance and the 5 included are a good mix from lowest to highest resistance. I have been using them for IT Band rehab for the past few months, starting with the lowest resistance. But after a few weeks of use they stretch at the joint and then break. I just move up to the next higher resistance and, however they are all broken now.If you do buy these dont expect them to last long. I have had these bands for several weeks, I use them daily, and thus far they have been perfect. I had never really integrated resistance band exercises into my routine but I am glad i did. These bands are great for a bunch of very effective workouts on your upper and lower body. I wasnt sure how best to use them but luckily they come with a very straightforward pamphlet that covers a bunch of great excercises. The carrying case is also a nice plus because without it they would add clutter for sure. I definitely recommend! Edit: unfortunately after a month or so my heavy has ripped…so not quite as durable as I had hoped. I get it that all fitness bands can roll up on you, but these stick together so bad when they do it ruins a workout. It can take up to 45 seconds to work them apart. I used them for the first time today and I am already returning them. They rolled for nearly every exercise, but thats not even my main reason for the return. I am returning because I cant stand the smell!! It has been on my body all day even after showering and washing my hands several times. Its making me sick to my stomach. I am going to order from a brand that is non-latex and hope I dont have the same issue. Though I am returning, I gave 2 stars since they still felt pretty strong and the resistance was good when they werent rolling. I got these to use for beach bodys 80 Day Obsession workout. I spend more time trying to get them to lay flat than I actually do working out. They not only roll but get stuck together. Its horrible. Save your money and buy a thicker band.

Notes from the Community

I can be pretty picky about my pencils. The problem with Dixon Ticonderogas is that they are made in China and Mexico and on Amazon you never know what you will get. To complicate things somewhat, Ive seen incense-cedar wood used in both China and Mexico versions of the same pencil, as well as lesser quality non-aromatic basswood or other lower grade wood material that is not readily identifiable. Also, Ticonderogas over time have changed their packaging graphics and they will no longer specify wood type on the box, anymore. They now use a generic phrase Premium Wood / Bois de la meilleure / Madera de primera calidad which gives absolutely no indication if the wood is cedar or not.Of late, they have a stamp signifying 100% American CEDAR WOOD sustainable forests and this designation will grace all boxes of pencils that are created out of incense-cedar (presumably!).It seems that this stamp has started to show on their products manufactured starting 2016. You will see it on their colored erasable/checking pencils, Tri-Conderogas, and their standard issue Ticonderogas in the 12-pack cardboard box, 24-pack hang tab clear plastic boxes, 48-pack hang tab green cardboard boxes, and the 96-pack cello wrapped variety which is in actuality 8 of the 12-pack boxes packaged as a single 96 count unit. They probably will start to use this designation on other products as well to make it easier to distinguish which of their products are incense-cedar wood and which are not.UPDATE: They also have a new stamp in the form of a gold colored banner: Celebrating over 100 years of excellence. AVOID those like the plague! You are buying the low-end Ticonderoga. The irony…that they would label their low-end garbage as excellence.Ticonderogas come in a higher grade and lower grade now. Look for the green-white CEDAR WOOD stamp if you want the high grade Ticonderoga. The problem is that there are huge stocks of pre-2016 packaging and it is hard to tell whats inside unless you actually peek into the box and handle the pencil in person. Even then, some variety of Ticonderogas will have sloppy paint jobs that have paint dripped over the ends and make it difficult to see the wood grain or take a whiff which is an important hint as to what you are dealing with (cedar vs basswood). Of course this is not possible when buying on Amazon.Ive bought 96-pack Ticonderogas at the large wholesale membership stores before (Costco) that are of the Mexican origin, in the same cello wrapped individually boxed units per dozen, HOWEVER, they are not marked for individual sale, meaning the bar codes and product code (i.e. 13882) are not imprinted on the individual boxes. The 96-pack bought today (2/6/2016) here on Amazon are also of the Mexican variety, in the same cello wrapped individual boxed units per dozen, AND they are each marked for individual sale, replete with barcodes and product codes. This is an interesting distinction because there is a huge quality difference between the two, and this is the crux of this review:- The Costco variety have a strong paint smell where the Amazon variety is nicely aromatic cedar.- The Costco variety is NOT imprinted as 100% AMERICAN cedar wood, the Amazon variety has the imprint.- The Costco variety is obviously not cedar wood, wood is a pasty white without visible woodgrain patterns- The Costco variety had very poor paint jobs and the classic green foil lettering and logos are noticeably poorer quality- There were more curved pencil bananas and off-centered leads in the Costco variety- The Amazon variety had largely well centered leads with mostly straight barrels, and the ferrule yellow paint stripes were cleanThis all means that if you are lucky and score a box of the cedar wood variety, you will have a great writing experience. The Mexican Ticonderogas were generally thought to be superior to the Chinese versions, because the Ticonderogas made in China largely used basswood/non-cedar wood, had a smallish eraser head, and the leads were poorly centered, and the ferrules were poorly painted as well. A lot of technical problems seems to plaque the Chinese version, like leads falling out (poorly bonded lead), or broken leads, or not sharpening well to a point (poor quality wood to blame). However, my Costco experience illustrates that both factories, whether it be China or Mexico, produce higher grade Ticonderogas and clearly lower grade ones as well.Interestingly, the latest batch of pencils that are hitting the shelves in big office retailers like Office Depot or Staples are of FANTASTIC quality and they are made in China versions, with well centered lead cores, incense-cedar wood barrels, sharply imprinted foil lettering, and ferrules that are printed very evenly with a bright yellow band, and erasers that are starting to grow to a size that almost rivals the Mexican counterparts. They are slightly darker in color and a very smooth, satin finish.I hope that Dixon is starting to listen to the myriad of complaints about the inconsistencies of their Ticonderoga product line, and the latest developments in this venerable brand is surely encouraging that all is not falling on deaf ears. In fact, the latest batch that are made in China would indicate that they have made a major commitment to restoring the brand to its former glory! I have to agree with the many other posts about the quality of these pencils. As a teacher, I NEED good pencils that dont constantly break and cause interruptions. I need reliable pencils, that LAST! The quality of the Dixon Ticonderoga Pencil has significantly gone downhill in the past 2 years. It USED to be the go-to pencil for teachers. Thats no longer the case. I have also found that in addition to the lead breaking far too often, the metal eraser ends are coming off as well! At first I thought the kids were doing it, NOT SO. I had several of them out on the reading table and picked one up to use it - right off came the entire eraser end when I tried to use the eraser. I picked up another, SAME thing! What a shame. NO REASON the quality had to be sacrificed OR production moved out of the USA. I will be searching for a new GO-TO pencil. Strange batch of pencils… I apologize as I know I am about to ramble a bit, but Im going to be honest and specific. (Sorry for any spelling errors…autoINcorrect…you know how that goes.)As a homeschooling family with four children, weve purchased many many many Dixon Ticonderoga pencils over the years. Before having children of my own, they had already become my favorites. Theyve always been the best of affordable options, in my opinion. Sharpen well, dont break as easily as most, erase well, and last. We have purchased from local retailers in the past.Wanting to buy more at once in bulk before we start our next school year in a few weeks, I looked here.I found and placed an order for the pack of 96 pencils consisting of 8×12count boxes. Seemed like a good deal… I was happy. I have NEVER received these pencils for free or at a discount and felt that this was a good buy for our money. My order arrived very quickly and I was excited to open it (yes, I still get excited about new pencils).HOWEVER:Every single pencil in every single box was covered in, what I assume was, sawdust. Not just a little haze here and there…quite a lot as there were so many pencils. It got all over the table, my hands, and my clothes as I took then out of the boxes and sharpened them all.Odd…but they Are wooden pencils…no big deal really. Moved on.3 pencils are missing completely, each from a different box.Well, that is irritating.Multiple pencils are quite bowed, at least 8 that I counted once I started paying attention as I sharpened them all.Annoying to sharpen And to use, especially for my elementary aged children whom are still refining their pencil grip and handwriting form. Sheesh.2 pencils are cracked lengthwise. The cracks worsen with sharpening. Lead breaks easily. Pencils will split with use rather quickly.Great. Another thing = useless pencils.Oi. I feel a bit gypped. We live on, a very tight, one income. I am very frugal & make do when we need to make do. This possibly makes me a little more sensitive to problems like this than some, but I dont think anyone would be happy with this.I hate to complain…ever. To have to leave a negative review for a typically good product leaves a knot in my stomach. What is going in here? If my batch was this bad, I cant be the only one…surely. Are these are factory rejects??I realize that I purchased a larger number of pencils, but I just dont feel that these kind of issues should ever happen…much less this many in a single purchase. Very strange… Just be aware. Im sorry for the negativity, but I dont think I would purchase from this seller again.UPDATE: I am now regretting this purchase even more so. Upon further inspection, Ive noticed just how terrible the quality and manufacturing of this batch of pencils is. In addition to the issues I mentioned previously, I am now finding that multiple of these pencils have a deep uneven/ripple that runs down the entire length of the pencil. I assume that these will crack with use as well. I cannot find a stamped manufacturing number on most of them. The ones that do have this are very faint and look strange. There is bubbling in the paint on most of the pencils and flaking paint around where the metal eraser mount meets the pencil.Absolutely ridiculous that there are So many problems to stumble across when youre not really looking for them! I so wish I had not sharpened all of these before inspecting them carefully. Id have sent these back in a heartbeat. I have Never seen such terrible and questionable manufacturing from Dixon Ticonderoga pencils prior to ordering from here. Im starting to wonder if these are even legitimate at this point. They are certainly factory rejects regardless. Dont buy these pencils from here… I love a Dixon Ticonderoga pencil… however, these pencils were either dropped a lot, or really abused vedore they arrived at my house.bought these for end of year testing. Today I sharpened 12 (one box worth) this is a picture of the 12 pencils after their first sharpen, and most of the leads that fell out. The leads inside were very broken. The picture of one in my hand is from the first days use, I had a student hand it to me after bubbling in 10 bubbles on their test and thus is what it looked like after I got it to sharpen without the lead falling out.
